What is TriFit Brixton?

5 weeks to go from your existing experience level to being race ready!

3 different types sports: run, swim and circuits

Locally run by fully qualified coaches

Only £20 which works out as £2 per session (cheaper than any gym class)!

2 sessions per week

Black, Asian and/or from a minority ethnic background focused

No previous experience* needed!

What is the race?

The Windrush Aquathlon is an annual local event that has been going for 9 years in the beautiful surroundings of Brockwell Park and Lido in Brixton.

Windrush Triathlon Club are keen to increase diversity and local participation of this great race.

The race is a 200m swim immediately followed by a 2.5k run. The race entry will be paid* for by local company Barclay Architects.

Aquathlons are a fun, safe way to start getting involved in multi-sport activities such as triathlon. On completing the race, you will receive a medal, swim cap and event T shirt, plus delicious home made cake!

This fantastic event takes place on Sunday 30th June 2019.

Where does it happen?

Most of the sessions will take place in Brockwell Park with swim sessions taking place at the Brixton Recreation Centre.

When does it happen?

 

This is the confirmed schedule and you can attend as many sessions as you like:

Week 1
Run, Brockwell Park, Saturday 2nd June, 10-11am
Swim, Brixton Rec Pool, Sunday 3rd June, 5-6pm

Week 2
Circuits, Brockwell Park, Wednesday 5th June, 7-8pm
Run, Brockwell Park, Thursday 6th June, 7-8pm

Week 3
Run, Brockwell Park, Saturday 15th June, 10-11am
Swim, Brixton Rec Pool, Sunday 16th June, 5-6pm

Week 4
Circuits, Brockwell Park, Friday 21st June, 7-8pm
Swim, Brixton Rec Pool, Sunday 22nd June 5-6pm

Week 5
Run and Swim, Brockwell Park Lido, Saturday 29th June, 10-12pm

 

What do you need?

For running:

  • Clothes that you are happy to do running and stretching activities in

  • Trainers

  • Drinks bottle

  • Warm layer (just in case it gets chilly)

For Swimming:

  • Swimwear

  • Goggles

  • Towel

  • Hat

  • Drinks bottle

How do you sign up?

Who is behind the programme:

  • Windrush Triathlon Club are running this programme because they love seeing the local community active and want to make sure the club is as open as possible to everyone. This programme is designed to encourage and support people from ethnic minority backgrounds in the Brixton area to take part in running, swimming and cycling, or any combination of the three sports, and participate in a community sports event, the Windrush Aquathlon.

  • British Triathlon Federation are the national governing body supporting this programme and provide insurance to cover all coaching activities so you are in safe hands. The programme is run in conjunction with the BTF’s GO TRI initiative. More information about it can be found here.

  • Inoculand are also keen to help fund the programme so have helped financially to make the programme affordable to all

* You don’t need to know how to swim front crawl but you do need to feel confident and comfortable in the deep end of a pool unassisted – see our FAQ section for more information. Race entries are paid for by Charles Barclay Architects but are limited to 16 spots. You do not have to take part in the Aquathlon Race – more details in the FAQ section here.
